On the promontory which gives its name to the strait that separates the mainland from 'Island of Elba rises Piombino, a town that holds a composite comprising the territory of the Etruscan Coast, Livorno Maremma and the Val di Cornia. And 'one of the busier of the Tuscan seaside resort and is famous for its maritime activities and the landscapes of which will not be hard to find pictures and videos on the web.

In addition to the port activities are the beaches to give the town the reputation of tourism in recent years, especially in the area of Populonia. Much of the coastline is totally free and has mixed stretches, sandy and pebbly. There are several beach resorts and other tourist facilities but there are still many unspoilt areas in which to practice scuba diving and snorkeling.

The tourist connections in Piombino are frequent and very well organized. There is a public bus that connects the center to the beach Calamoresca, the meeting point of young people not only in the summer just as worthy of note are the beaches of Salivoli.

So many sights to see and many places to visit: Many buildings are medieval castle that stands out and, apparently, also worked on Leonardo da Vinci. After seeing the old town, its many churches, the town and the archaeological museum of Populonia recommend a visit to Piazza Bovio, the vantage point from which to shoot the best pictures of Piombino.
